West African Shrine

By Bokhari Hamid · Creative DirectorBuried Games

A personal environment concept rooted in the history of the Kingdom of Benin, in modern-day Nigeria: a shrine space with an altar at its center. The piece walks through the full pipeline — a 3D base built in Blender, the shrine's design and layout, altar and prop studies, and side-by-side color and mood explorations.

From blockout to mood

The scene starts as a 3D blockout in Blender to lock the composition and camera, then moves into paint: the shrine's structure and layout, the altar at its heart, and the props that give the space its ritual character.

The final pass explores color and mood side by side — shifting light and palette over the same scene until the atmosphere lands.
